03 June 2020: Thermal imaging camera helped detect fire at early stage
Thermal imaging camera helped to quickly detect a fire nearby Almaty Eastern Ring Road. A thermal imager located at height of 30 meters was able to detect the fire from ten kilometer distance.
The project of centralized thermal imaging surveillance is initiated by Almaty Department of Digitalization jointly with Kazakhtelecom JSC. It includes thermal and optical surveillance, early detection of fire and smoke. As part of pilot project, a single camera was installed in the city, enabling emergency personnel monitor fire situation in Almaty. If temperature is detected above 100 degrees, the camera captures and sends a photo image marked "alarm" to command console.
