03 August 2020: Coursera.org provided 5000 free licenses to Almaty citizens for professional development

Department of Digitalization and Employment Center of Almaty have signed an agreement with Coursera to allow 5,000 people to take courses from the world's leading universities on a free basis. According to the agreement, free access will be provided until 31 December 2020, but only for those users who complete registration process before 30 September 2020.

Today, it is not necessary to physically attend lectures and practical classes at an educational institution in order to get education. There are many websites and online services that you can use to learn and get education without leaving home. The largest and most respected of these services is Coursera, an online education platform that offers online courses from the world's best universities. 

Currently, Coursera partners with more than 200 universities from 48 countries, including Stanford, Pennsylvania, Princeton, Michigan, and Beijing universities. Coursera also develops courses with international leading companies such as IBM, Google and PwC.

HOW DOES COURSERA WORK?

Courses contain assignments, weekly tests and final exam, at the end of a course a student receives a certificate. Courses duration is from 6 to 10 weeks, depending on the chosen programme.

All materials of the online platform are in one place: dictionary and sets of exercises. The system makes it easy to find necessary courses for both beginners and those who want to improve their academic or professional knowledge.

HOW TO APPLY?

In order to take courses from Coursera, you need to submit an application for almaty.coursera@mail.kz with indication of your first and last name, type of activity and email address.

Next, you will receive an invitation to your email address. After registration, you can choose any courses presented on the site, in areas of IT, applied sciences and humanities, economics, medicine, management, marketing and much more.
After the request, you will receive a response within 5 days. If you do not use your account for more than two weeks, your subscription will be canceled. The offer is limited to 5,000 students.
